The Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) of Safe Harbor is a centralized, child friendly facility where victims of child abuse and neglect, ages birth to seventeen years, come to disclose their allegations of abuse. The Center is nationally accredited and provides an array of services aimed at enhancing our community’s response to incidences of child abuse and neglect. Services include on-site forensic interviews of youth victims, counseling services for victims of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse and/or domestic violence, on-site medical services, victim advocacy, and the coordination of the Allegan County Child Abuse Investigation Team. Children who are seen at the Center take part in a coordinated child abuse investigation whereby professionals from law enforcement, Child Protective Services, the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the medical and mental health fields, Safe Harbor, and the community all come together to help victims.
