Lighting the Way
To a Future of Hope & Healing

Capital Campaign Goal
$2,300,000
Help light the way to a future of hope and healing by donating to Safe Harbor’s Capital Campaign.
So far, we have been able to raise $1,716,105 toward our goal (*this amount is not including the $50,000 matching challenge from ACCF or any amount the community has matched so far). By February 2023 we will have moved in and hope to have reach our $2,300,000. We need your help to create a space where more children can find the hope, help, and healing they need. Everyday children in our community suffer unbearable physical, mental, and sexual abuse. Over 3,700 children are involved in child abuse and neglect investigations in Allegan County each year.
Since 1983, Safe Harbor has been providing a lifeline to child victims of abuse and is the only organization in the community able to provide all of these services under one-roof at no cost to the victims or their families. By partnering with law enforcement, child protective services, the prosecuting attorney’s office, and medical providers, we have been able to offer child victims the hope, help, and healing they deserve. Each year we provide forensic interviews, medical examinations, counseling, and court advocacy to over 360 children.
The current physical structure of our building does not allow for us to provide many essential tasks simultaneously and without struggle. Changes to Safe Harbor’s facility are necessary for the success of our organization, and more importantly for the health of the children and families in our community.
Together we can light the way to a brighter future for Safe Harbor and the children of Allegan County and surrounding communities.
Be the light in someone else’s storm.

The Building Project
New Building Impact
From 2,400 sq. ft. to 6,000 sq. ft.
- Two Forensic Interview Rooms
Our current building only has one interview room. The two rooms in the new building will allow for two simultaneous interviews. Designing two rooms, one for older children and one for younger, helps children of all ages feel that Safe Harbor is designed specifically for them to share their stories. - Multiple Counseling Rooms
We can only conduct one or two counseling sessions at a time in our current building, even though we have staff that can accommodate more. Counseling rooms designed for different types of therapy and age groups will allow us to serve more children and families. - Designated Conference Rooms
Our current conference room is the only space in our current building that allows for more than 3 people to meet. It functions as the observation room for interviews, space for meetings, trainings, counseling, and as the staff break room. When one of these is occurring, other services cannot be provided. - CASA Training Room, Medical Suite, & Team Rooms
Because our current building lacks physical space, offices and shared space are used for other necessary functions. A new building will meet our growing needs and accommodate our programs, families, and team members. - Individual Staff Offices
Current building has 5 offices for 8 staff and 3 interns. New office space will be designed to enable and support instead of contributing to low productivity and high turn-over.
